How's That Working For You?

I work at home so I have access to television during normal work hours. Every Tuesday Oprah has a guest they call "Tell it like it is Phil." Dr Phil Mcgraw confronts couples with issues that are destroying their relationships.
He uses extreme examples in order to make his point. In theory, if we can see ourselves through his examples perhaps the information could help solve a similar issue in our own lives.
Doctor Phil always listens to both sides carefully and then asks, "Well, how is that working for you?" The obvious answer is if what they were doing were working, they wouldn't be facing serious problems with their relationship.
I want to pose the same question to you. Is what you are doing working? If not, are you willing to make some changes in the way you are doing things. More importantly, are you willing to invest more even if it takes longer?
Virtually All Media Is Content Driven.
Can you imagine television, without the show, radio without the music or newspapers without the news? Why then are so many websites 90% hype or advertising and less than 0% information?
As Above So Below
Online, content is compelling information. The Internet is simply another form of media. You absolutely must provide compelling content in order to attract and retain customers.
A successful website may contain up to 90% content and 10% or less aimed at earning money. Content attracts visitors; it gives them either a reason to buy compels them to buy now. You give first before you ask, like a potluck. I call this "priming the pump."
My JOB IS Content Development
I spend 90% of my time developing information to help others make money online. I actually don't even spend 10% of my time asking for the sale. If I do my job right, I don't have to ask.
I spend about 12 to 16 hours a week on this newsletter and about that much time on the Ezine. Over time, I have published about 260 weekly newsletters and over 60 Ezines containing at least 25 articles.
I spend at least 20% of my time reading articles and researching various aspects of home-based business. I also spend at least 2 hours a day answering email and on the telephone. I don't see any of this as work because I am invested in the process and not just the result.
The vision
When I started this 5 years ago, I had a vision and developed a plan. I wrote it out, boiled it down, and rolled up my sleeves and went to work. As I progressed, the plan also progressed.
My vision was to develop and share a sure fire home-based business income model. I wanted a plan that couldn't fail no matter what, and I was prepared to do what ever I could to make it work.
My early research led me to believe that the Internet would change the way people do business and eventually how and where people work. I expected the gold rush mentality to come and go, and it has.
The Plan
I realized early on that there were no Internet Marketing experts. So rather than present myself as some sort of self-proclaimed marketing guru I would invest in learning everything I could from every source I could find.
My five-year plan would result in a book and an Internet marketing archive built entirely of compelling marketing information that had been tested and actually worked.
"I'll Know My Song Well Before I start Singing"
Nothing is more dissatisfying than working someone else's system. I wanted to develop a system where anyone could study several approaches to every aspect of Internet marketing. The Archive I developed contains over 5000 pages of content dedicated entirely to every aspect of developing a home-based business.
