The Truth About the Minisite Phenomenon

What is the secret behind a great minisite that sells?
I am gonna give away the whole enchilada to you right here:
First off, for those of you who do not know a minisite is a two to three page website that has one or two goals:
- 1. To capture leads
- 2. To make sales
These sites sprang up when crafty internet marketers went against the trend of big, content filled websites. Don't get me wrong a content filled website such as www.goldbar.net does very well but only because we have been around for such a long time.
If any new marketer was to approach me and ask whether they should build a huge content resource site I would completely advise them against it and tell them instead to focus their efforts on building a minisite, making it successful, then building another and another until they have several minisites (with completely different domain names) bringing in multiple sources of revenue for them.
Why? Because the time and effort that you have to put into maintaining a content site is huge and while the payoff can be great, the trend of the internet is moving towards paid content sites. So free content sites that were created years ago can make tons of money because of the traffic and following they have developed, today it is far too costly, difficult and time consuming to create.
So for new and seasoned marketers alike, minisites are the perfect creature. There are many uses for a minisite:
- They can be used to generate leads for an affiliate program or network marketing opportunity.
- They can be used to promote your own products and/or services.
- They can be used to promote a joint venture between two new partners.
But you have to set them up correctly from the start or they can become a drain on your resources. In order to be wildly successful, minisites have to be:
- A. Attractive and professional looking
- B. Crafted according to Scientific Internet Marketing principles
If you have one but not the other, the chances are your venture will not succeed.
Ok, a professional, attractive design is pretty straightforward but what are these "Scientific Internet Marketing principles"?
1. A minisite must be no more than three pages. Each page should offer something of interest to your target market in order for them to leave their contact information for you.
2. A minisite must present benefits and not features (no matter what you are promoting).
3. A minisite should offer powerful, persuasive copy that encourages your prospects to act (whatever you want that action to be).
4. A minisite should be as automated as possible so your only job is to promote it and let automated tools and software do all the other functions (such as prospect followup and/or transaction processing) for you.
5. A minisite should implement as much tracking as possible so that you can track your ROI and visitor to sale (or lead) ratio as well as where your visitors are coming from.
Once you create such a minisite, you should test it, find out if it is producing the desired results (ie leads, sales or both), tweak it until it produces the results you want and then roll it out on a wide scale using tried and true internet marketing techniques: ie ezine advertising, article submissions, press releases, pay-per-click search engine listings.
So when you can get a professionally designed minisite that utilizes the 5 "Scientific Internet Marketing principles", you will shortly find yourself on the road to success.
