Providing Valuable Content To Attract More Traffic

The Internet is a pull medium; you attract people to your website by offering free information. Content is highly targeted information about something in which you have expertise and interest.

Good content has the power to set you above the crowd as an expert. Communicating your passion through your content has the power to make sales happen. Your personal key to attract more targeted traffic to your web site is to develop compelling content for your website.

Your web content development is a reflection of what you have to give - not what you want to get!

You can't buy the kind of traffic that good content will attract at any price. Developing content doesn't cost you anything. It pays.

90% of a commercial site's content should be free, with only 10% directed at revenue generation. You'll be happy to know that you don't have to come up with all the content yourself.

Communicate Your Purpose
Nothing attracts better than a clearly defined mission. Define, re-define and communicate your purpose and vision.

Boil down your purpose into a few words - then communicate them up-front. All of your content should support your purpose. You should really care about your content.

Everything you do should support your purpose. As you develop content for your website, choose products that fit into your niche, and promote your agenda.

If your content doesn't promote your mission, find content that does.

Free Content Is Available Everywhere
You do have an Opt-in list don't you? If you don't, that's the first place to start. Offer to update your visitors with the new information or resources you know they'd want to know about.

You can write original articles or reports. Start by emailing them to your house list. But don't stop there. Spend time finding others within your niche. Offer to allow them to reprint your work. Include your resource information at the bottom of the article. Include a little about yourself, your mission and how you can be contacted. If you offer a newsletter or special report, you can include it within the resource box. Try to keep it as brief as possible.

You can find great content in newsgroups, forums and even on other websites. Negotiate WIN-WIN trades with others you would normally consider your competitors. Everyone wins in the content trading game. You empower content with your passion, simply by putting it into your own words.

More Free Sources Of Content
  • Ask others to link to add value to their website by linking to content on your website.
  • Offer others commissions or a discount, and join affiliate programs.
  • Become a re-seller or affiliate to earn money by providing links off-site.
  • Exchange advertising, articles, and reports with others.
  • Write testimonials for products you value. Testimonials not only help others sell products - they add to your expertise and credibility.
  • Interactivity develops better relations with your visitors. Install scripts to get your visitors to interact.
  • Offer free downloads of related software, freeware, shareware and demos.
  • Video clips, photos, graphics and sound can be used to present content in more interesting ways.

Make Your Website Act As A Portal
A Portal is a website that offers a wide variety of very specific information, as well as links to other useful resources.

You can create a lot of traffic acting as a Portal. The advantage is that you can leverage other people's efforts. You can offer more tools and resources than most websites. Many Portals offer advertising creating additional revenue streams.

The disadvantage is: you risk sending your traffic elsewhere. You can mitigate this problem by forming web-rings and link exchanges with other websites. In theory, Portals work best if your site is better than the average website within your niche.

Content Is King
Content is king, not only on-line but everywhere. It's always has been the key. All mediums use content in one form or another to build relationships and attract customers.

Marketing without content is like offering commercials without the programing. It just doesn't work. Websites without compelling content simply won't attract.

In Conclusion
All the content you develop should support your purpose and your passion. Communicating your passion through your content closes sales. Free content is available everywhere. It doesn't have to cost you anything except your time.

Websites without compelling content simply won't attract visitors. If your content doesn't promote your mission, find other content that will. The very fastest way to grow your business is to continually develop more high quality content.

The titanic was built by big business, but amateurs built the Ark. You don't need to know everything to develop your own compelling content.

The easiest route to the top may not be the most direct route. Don't be afraid to work hard developing your content. Invest time and effort into developing content. It will pay off in the long run.
